New promotions at Anthony Harper

Two new promotions to partner at Anthony Harper
Anthony Harper is pleased to announce the promotion to partner of Jackie Behrnes in Employment and Megan Compton in Corporate Advisory, both based in our Christchurch office.

Jackie Behrnes joined Anthony Harper in early 2017. She has worked as a specialist employment lawyer in the United Kingdom and New Zealand and has extensive experience in employment law. She has particular expertise in senior executive employment issues, redundancy, personal grievances, disciplinary processes, employment agreements and dispute resolution.

Megan Compton joined Anthony Harper in 2015 as a Senior Associate, having practised in large national and international practices in Auckland and London. She provides her clients with the full range of corporate and commercial law services, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial agreements and intellectual property advice. She has a particular interest in the tourism sector and leads Anthony Harper's tourism speciality.
Clients describe Megan as "very knowledgeable" and a "joy to work with". She is recognised a "Next Generation Lawyer" in both the 2017 and 2018 editions of the Legal 500 Asia Pacific Guide.

Bumper crop of new internal promotions to senior positions
"We have a strong, collaborative culture and we like to see our people grow and develop. This year we have promoted more lawyers to the position of Special Counsel and Senior Associate than at any previous time."
Lynne Van is promoted to Special Counsel. Based in Auckland, Lynne is an expert litigator with extensive experience in insolvency, property, securities enforcement and recoveries. Lynne was recently ranked as a "Next Generation Lawyer" in the 2018 Legal 500 Asia Pacific Guide. Lynne graduated from Auckland University with both a bachelors and masters in law and she is noted by clients for 'providing an extremely good service'.
Aimee Edwards is also promoted to Special Counsel. Aimee is a highly experienced trust and asset planning lawyer with over 17 years' experience. Based in Christchurch her practice focuses on trusts, asset protection, elder law, estate planning and wills. Aimee joined Anthony Harper in late 2016 as a Senior Associate and this promotion recognises her proven ability and technical expertise.
Six lawyers were promoted to the position of Senior Associate. These include Pip Breitmeyer, Jessica Hanning and Jullion Nelson Parker who are also ranked as "Next Generation Lawyers" in the2018 Legal 500 Asia Pacific Guide. Joey James, Dominic Fitchett and Sarah Chin are also promoted to Senior Associate.
Alice Chan, Sarah Anderson and Jordan Wright have been promoted to Associate.
The internal promotions took effect from 1 January 2018.
