Finalist at the New Zealand Event Awards
Being a finalist for a national award is always most gratifying. Being a finalist in an area outside your core business area is even more so. We are very proud to be a finalist in the 2018 New Zealand Event Awards for our sponsorship of the Pop-up Globe.
New Zealand Events Association Chair Graham Rouse is delighted to congratulate the Awards’ finalists.
"Our finalists have demonstrated outstanding vision, innovation and results. This, combined with sustained growth in the volume of awards applications we are receiving year on year, is a really positive indication of the strength of the events industry in New Zealand and the positive impact that it has on people, communities and the economy. I am looking forward to celebrating with the sector and recognising the finalists’ achievements at the NZEA Event Awards function."
When Pop-up Globe, still in its inception, came to our attention in 2015, we were immediately drawn to the concept and we found their passion and drive so compelling it was impossible not to be caught up in their enthusiasm. So we took a leap of faith and became the inaugural sponsor – and we haven’t looked back.
In 2018, we combined our areas of expertise and broke new ground. A standout this term was the launch of the first Anthony Harper Pop-up Globe Moot – a fabulous collaboration between Pop-up Globe, Anthony Harper and the University of Auckland Law School that mixed drama, debate and the law in a fun and imaginative way.
The event was a huge success for all parties – promoting the theatre to the student audience, promoting Anthony Harper to prospective law graduates and promoting the law school as providing first class opportunities to its students. It also deepened the relationship between Anthony Harper and Pop-up Globe by providing a platform to further discuss the legal themes relevant in many of Shakespeare’s plays and activated the fun side of the law.
We have become part of the Pop-up Globe story and they, in turn, are part of our success. Pop-up Globe and Anthony Harper believe that successful collaborations are those where there's an alignment of values between the parties – not one that is all about the money. We were cognisant of the Pop-up Globe's business needs and they, in turn, understood clearly what our needs, expectations and goals were. A close relationship developed, based on mutual respect and a confidence that we were both supportive of each other.
Over the years', over 500,000 have attended a performance, both in Auckland and Christchurch, that has been supported by Anthony Harper. We are enormously proud of this legacy.
The winner of the Best Event Sponsorship will be announced at the gala dinner in March/April 2019.
