Malcolm is a partner in Anthony Harper's Corporate Advisory team specialising in the retail sector.

Malcolm advises clients on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, reorganisations and commercial contracts of all kinds. He has been recommended by the Asia Pacific Legal 500.

Malcolm was a partner in a leading London law firm before his return to New Zealand in 2005.

  • Acting for Allied Nationwide Finance on its strategic finance arrangements with Rural Livestock Finance, including equity options and management services (2009)
  • Advising BDO Spicers on the receivership of Southern Alps Socks (part of the LWR Group) to Sock Works (2009)
  • Advising NZ Windfarms on the purchase of National Power and Babcock & Brown's interest in the Te Rere Hau wind farm joint venture (2008-2009)
  • Avising the shareholders of EziBuy on the sale of shares to Catalyst Investment Fund (2007)
  • Acting for EziBuy on the purchase from Direct Capital and others of women's clothing retailer Max (2007)
  • Advising Barker Fruit Processors on its merger, by acquisition of assets and issue of shares, with Anathoth (2007)
  • Acting for BDO Spicers on the receivership of Target Pest Enterprises, including the sale of six divisions to separate purchasers (2007)
  • Acting for Arthur Ellis on the sale of its Fairydown and Great Outdoors division to Jan Cameron (of Kathmandu) (2006)
  • Advising EziBuy on the purchase of corporate wardrobe distributor Profile and the sale of its schoolwear division to Postie Plus (2006)
  • Advising Arthur Ellis on the sale of its Columbia sportswear business to Outdoor Performance (2006)
